Christmas Countdown

The Black Friday commercials are beginning which means its time to start the countdown to Christmas!  For this cute card, I embossed the front with a Christmas folder, added some velet ribbon to the top, and used a Tim Holtz Fragment with some attached decorative paper to the front.  There you have it quick and simple!  Now if Christmas shopping was that easy!! :)

Believe

Not everyone likes the traditional red and green when it comes to Christmas, so to please them I made a light blue, white and silver santa card.  The base of the card is white, the next layer is blue and I embossed some vellum and added the white lace stickles to give it a "snow" look.  Some decorative blue snowflake paper, a bit of silver accent around the santa and believe statement and some white yarn finish the card.

Letter to Saint Nick

To make this letter to Saint Nick card, I used a bit of red glitter along the edge, added a layer with some script writing in the background, attached a candy cane stripe ribbon along the bottom and using some scrap pieces of paper I made the square and stamped the postage image along the other piece.  Quick and simple!

Ole Christmas Tree

I love the vintage feel that this card has.  Some dark cardstock for the base, sheet music, glimmer mist in gold, memory die swirl tree, some vintage photo distress ink lightly dusted around edges, a piece of left over ribbon, and a tag punch was all that was used to complete this card.

Forest of Trees

Okay time for me to get busy creating my Christmas Cards so I will have them ready to ship out.  For this one it is a brown cardstock base, a green layer, and the top note die cut from Stampin Up for the ivory layer.  I used the Stampin Up forest of trees stamp and a christmas message stamp.  Tim Holtz distress ink in pine needles, and the trees stamped in vintage photo.  A bit of frosty lace stickles (love that color looks just like snow) for the snow drifts, and a bit of ivory ribbon for corners.

Fall Woods

Halloween is over so I'm taking one week for Thanksgiving before I start making my Christmas Cards!  When  I think of Fall, the woods come to mind.  All the beautiful trees, the untouched beauty, there is such a peacefulness about them.  A friend of mine gave me this roll of bark, that I used for the corners of the cards, a few woodsy stamps and fall color inks made it really pop!

Day of the Dead

This is my last Halloween Card for 2011!  I tried Soot Stamping.  Very simple take glossy paper, and place above lit candle.  The soot from the candle will transfer onto the glossy paper.  If you want the burnt edges go ahead and let paper burn a bit.  Using Versamark, stamp your image onto the soot covered paper.  The versamark will pull the soot off leaving you with your image.  To add more texture wad up a paper towel and dap over areas.  Spray a sealant over the soot image to keep it from making a mess.  To finish the card I used grey cardstock with a distress background stamp, some black cardstock for another layer, and prima roses inked up a bit with black ink, a few resin black flowers complete the card.  Hope you have a Safe and Happy Halloween!

Spooky Tree

I am in love with trees, I think they have so much character to them.  So I used some distressed inks for the background and blended them a bit, cut out a spooky tree from my Cricut, used some foam tape to puff up the tree and attached a few pairs of wiggly eyes to complete the card!

Itsy Bitsy Spider

I love how this card turned out on the cute side.  Items that were used were coredinations paper, black cardstock, spider ribbon, black glitter brads, a spider web embossing folder, silver stickles, wiggle eyes, a spider sticker, and for the wording, just a simple Halloween saying that I cut out.

Wiggly Bat

This card was quick to make.  Used the top note die cut from stampin up, a leftover halloween tag and using some wire, I attached a sparkly bat to finish it off.

Halloween Portraits

Whenever  I think of old spooky houses,  my mind is filled with dark rooms, portraits lining the wall of the creaky staircase and skulls popping up in unexpected places.  Here is my tribute to that dark spooky staircase!

Frankenstein

I love Halloween and all the costumes that come with it.  For this card, I chose to do a cute and quick one.  Some bright green cardstock, left over black cardstock, a black marker, some wiggle eyes, and two half circles, circle punch and corner rounder was all I used on this card!

Haunted House & Mummy Bar

This is the sizzix die for the gingerbread house and since Halloween is just around the corner I just changed the color of paper to create a spooky house.  A few glittery bats, a silver doorknob and of course every haunted house needs some wiggle eyes peeking out of windows.

As a bonus I recreated yet another project to show you that is quick and easy.

All you need to create this is a chocolate bar, crepe paper, sctoch tape, glue dots, and wiggle eyes. Tape the crepe paper to the bar and wrap leaving some openings, tape the end with scotch tape.  Adhere wiggle eyes with glue dots and you are done.  Told you it was quick and easy!

Cards for Operation Write Home

I know its not my normal day to post, but I just had to share with you what I have been up to these past two days.  My sweet husband helped me create this video, and I want to apologize in advance, my camera does not take the best videos.  These cards will be shipped out today to the regional shipper so our troops will have them for holidays.  If you are interested in finding out more about this wonderful organization, check out their website.

Witches Brew

This was a fun and quick card to make.  The stamp is from Stampin Up!  I just colored it in with water colors and some stickles.  The witches brew is a rub on.

Wicked Feet

This card has a little bit of everything going on!  The paper is from Stampin Up, along with the stamp set.  The flower is just tulle cut into circles and a shiny brad in the middle to hold all in place.  A black spider ribbon across the top and a gathered green ribbon along the bottom.  A few black buttons, clothespins for legs and a spooky tag complete the card.

Boo to You

This card was quick and easy to make.  Decorative paper for the layer, some ghost punched out a bit of sheer polka dotted ribbon in the corners and as the center, wooden letters covered in black glitter.  I love how the middle "o" has a bit of glitter string hanging down.  I think it adds to the card.

magic Pumpkin Slider

I made a magic slider card and I could not do it justice with just a picture so I am trying my hand at video!  After figuring out all the measurements, this is my favorite type of card!

Pumpkin Greetings

Its October!  For me that means time to get out the Halloween Decorations and transform our home.  As I looked out around our neighborhood, I saw all the colorful pumpkins sitting on porches and knew that was the type of card I wanted to create for the beginning of the season.  I used cordinations paper for the green and purple layers and some scrap ivory paper for the rest.  Just a bit of blending with Tim Holtz spiced marmalade and rusty hinge distress inks, a stamped image in peeled paint distress ink and a left over ribbon to complete this card.

Autumn Get Well

"Tis the Season to be sick, fa la la la la la la la la."  Battling my way through a second sinus infection, I decided to go ahead and make a Get Well Card.  Using the tree bark embossing folder, and an ornament shaped die cut, a page from an old book, decorative cardstock, and ribbon this card was made in a matter of minutes.  Now if only my sinus infection was so easy to finish!  :)

These Three Crowns

Hip Hip Hooray, I'm back to my favorite style....Vintage!  The picture does not do this card justice.  The middle crown is raised and has some thick embossing powder on it to add a bit more dimension, the paper is distressed and inked using Tim Holtz Distress ink in Vintage Photo!  A bigger black bow finishes the card off.

Fall Leaves

The official start to Autumn was Friday so here is my salute to it!  When I think of Autumn, instantly trees come to mind, colorful leaves and warm tones.  To make this card I used the tree bark embossing folder, some colorful decorative paper, pages from an old book and of course some distress inks (peeled paint, rusty hinge, vintage photo)  to help the leaves stand out I used some copper embossing powder.  The card is finished off with a copper colored ribbon and dew drop.
Happy Fall to you all!

Grandma's Get Well Wishes

Okay this is the last card of the week of dedication to my grandmother.  She is very talented in crocheting, as you can see by the doily that this card sits upon.  I wanted to honor her so when I started designing this card I took into account her favorite color, what she enjoyed doing and my wish for her.  Get well Grandma, I love ya!

Grandmas Birthday Wishes

Adding on to my week of dedication to my grandmother, I made this card.  Once again I used some doilies on the card and in staying true to my grandma some roses.  While growing up I can remember going to her home and seeing the most amazing rose bushes lining her backyard fence. There was never a wilted bloom or weed along that very long fence, only beautiful roses!  To give the card some dimension I made a rose using the Tim Holtz tattered floral die and  applied some glossy accents to a stamp to give it a bit more pop.

Grandma's Doily

For those of you who know me, you know that I've been having a hard time dealing with my grandmother being in a nursing home.  Each time I go up to see her I notice her spirit gone more and more.  This week I'm dedicating my blog to her and her love of something homemade.  One of her many talents was crocheting these lovely doilies.  Her hands would be flying away creating the delicate stitches, while her foot tapped to the beat of the music and she still managed to continue on a conversation with you!  To honor her, I've made a card using tones of brown, a bit of cream and of course some yarn and a ribbon rose.  The doily stamp is from Stampin Up, the bottom doily is from my amazing grandmother.

Memories Saved

I recently came across some old damaged books and I decided to reuse them for card making.  Using a spellbinder some vintage photo distress ink and dusty concord distress ink gave me the look I was going for.

Pressed Treasures

Yes I know I resorted back to the style I love VINTAGE!  Recently I purchased some handmade paper and then I didn't want to use it!  LOL  It took me a few days to get up the nerve to tear into it and this card is what came of it.  I love the way the swirls and distressed spots give it that vintage flair, the ribbon is that faded pink color, the bee is done in distress walnut stain ink and wings covered with glossy accents, the label is in distress vintage photo ink and the rose completes it.

Church Window

Keeping the cards bright and colorful.  I chose to use a clear card base and attached this beautiful vellum flower in the front and a solid piece inside the card for writing the greeting.  When held up to light this looks just like stained glass.

Birthday Candle

Okay so like I said in my last post, I'm taking a break and trying something new.  I pulled out my cricut and printed out the birthday blessing, dug in my cake supplies for the candle and used my scraps to finish making this bright colored card.

Birthday Cake

Okay,  so I'm taking a small break from my usual vintage style for a cute fun one instead.  I love the simple striped background, the stickle glue on the cake reminds me of sugar crystals and a cute pink ribbon brings it all together.

Dragonfly on Canvas

I love how this card turned out.  I took some paint and swiped it over the cardstock and misted with a water bottle to give it that wavy, weathered look.  The canvas was stamped on and then colored a bit with distress inks, frayed edges make it look worn.  Added some twine knotted and separated, a word charm, beaded pin and vintage clip to finish it off.

I love how this card looks like something that was tucked away from years past.
Doilies, hem tape, wire & pearl embellishments along with some vintage looking stamps and paper made it happen.

Antique Flutter

As you can tell, I've been in a vintage mode lately.  I love the way this card turned out it will be very hard to give it away.  Kraft, white, dark brown paper make up the base.  Lace, twine, and ribbon give it the look and feel I love.  An embossed image and mini roses add a bit of bling to it.

Distressed Collage

Corrugated Cardboard, browns and a touch of blue brings this card to life.

Sense of Time

This looks like it has a black layer but that is done by taking a marker and outlining the edge!  Works great for those cards that you want the layered look but plan on mailing!

A Halloween Party

Okay so I couldn't get enough of the new paper that Scrapbook101 has stocked up on, I just had to go back for some more!  This time I came out with this cute paper from Reminisce called A Halloween Party.  Yes, I know this is a bit out of my comfort zone but my inner child was telling me I could do it and Halloween is my favorite holiday!  I set to work creating some different types of cards, changed the size of a few and added elements to them that I haven't used in my other cards.  I have not posted two of the items that I made, you will just have to stop into the store on Wednesday to see them;)  I will give you a hint though, Scrapbookers will be happy for one of them and those that love things that keep going and going will love the other item!  Once again thank you Scrapbook101 for this fun opportunity!

A Christmas Story

I was so excited when I heard that Scrapbook101 was looking for people to make a few samples from some of their new paper!
Away to the van, I flew like a flash, tore open the door and buckled my sash.
The traffic was heavy, the lights red and green, but my destination had come to an end!
Upon entering the store, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but "A Christmas Story" from Reminisce.
With papers and stickers so vintage and classic, I knew in a moment it was mine for the asking.
The treasures were stacked by the register with care, in hopes that Jeanie soon would be there;
As I waved goodbye to my fellow friend, visions of crafting danced in my head!
Thank You again Jeanie from Scrapbook101 for this opportunity!
