Color Block

Even though the weather over here is cloudy and raining with bits of hail thrown in,

today is a good day!  I've won yet again on Gingersnaps! 

Here is a card that I made for Scrapbook101 using decorative paper, of course I had to vintage it up a bit ;)

Dark cardstock, and some bright colored decorative paper, yes I said bright but with some embossing folders and some embossing ink/powder I was able to make it "old"!  A button with some twine and butterfly make this card simple and complete.

Life is Good

I'm soooo sorry for missing yesterdays post. 

I've been working on playing catch up on Creative Chemistry101 and studying for my classes. 

It is not too late to sign up and get this wealth of information from the master himself. 

Right now I don't have any creations to show you.... that is my homework this weekend ;) 

To make it up to you, I'm going to give you a sneak peak to one of the cards

that I will have at Scrapbook101 on April 14th for the Make N' Take!

This card screams Spring.  We are using the "homemade flower fluff" and dying the trim!  I love the vintage feel that this card has.  Looking forward to showing you more cards.

Almost Finished with Book 1

More feathers at Moxie Fab

Going along with the challenge, here is another feather glitz card.

Easter Cross

This card was a Make N Take that I created for Scrapbook101 last weekend. 

Lots of cutting was involved to get the dimension on the flowers and the cross

but everyone seemed happy with it.... the demand was so high, we actually had to cut more! 

I think its perfect for Easter or as a Sympathy card. 

The embossing folder is called Leafy Branches, the stamp for the cross

(the bottom flowers I just stamped that section from the cross) is from Northwoods

colored pencils and ribbon finish it off.

Grandma's Photo Album

If you know me, you know that I am very close to my grandparents.  

I have learned many lessons in life through watching them. 

 I like to think that my creativeness is passed down from my grandmother & mother. 

  My grandmother loved to crochet so I thought some lace trim would be great. 

She always would wear necklaces so a bit of pearls had to be added. 

Inside this book I have pictures of each of her grandchildren along with their names listed under the pictures.  A tag located in each pocket tells of a special memory they have of her.

Her nurse goes through the book with her each day to help her make the connection.

I truly feel blessed to have my grandparents still today and all the wonderful memories I have of them.

Cheap Ribbon Holder

I know this is not a posting day, but I just had to show you my new ribbon holder.  When it comes to crafting, I hate spending money on storage items so I'm always looking for cheap solutions.  While on Pinterest I came across rain gutters for ribbon holders.... off to the hardware store I pulled my dear husband.  We bought one rain gutter that was white and 6 end caps to complete the look.  All hubby had to do was use tin snips to cut them down to size (still have more left over) a drill to make the holes and attach them to the wall!  If you ask me I think they resemble those floating shelves and the biggest thing.... it only cost around $15.00

Robin's Nest

When you see the Robins, you know Spring is finally here! 

I'm still on the lookout for one, but the weather sure is telling me Spring has arrived! 

This card was created using the Northwoods robin nest stamp.  I stamped twice, colored it in with colored pencils and plumped it up by using a stylus. The eggs have a bit of glossy accents on them to bring out the shell detail and the layer of blue paper behind I think helps to tie it all in.

Can you believe that Easter is just around the corner?

I love how bright and colorful this card turned out and do you know what????

It was a simple card to make!  The card is layered using swiss dots embossing folder, the stamp is from Inky Antics.  Just a bit of colored pencils, some clear gelly pen and a bright spring yellow bow.

Vintage faux background

I was given this paper to create something with.  I wanted to take some bright colored paper and transform it into a vintage wallpaper.  The first step was to emboss it with an embossing folder, I then swiped some distress ink in pink over it and covered it with clear embossing powder.  After heat setting I used some distress ink in walnut stain and darkened it.  When you feel this it remind me of the tin ceiling tiles or the embossed wallpapers of yesteryears.

Flower Panels

Isn't this just the cutest card.  It has such a spring feel to it, could be used as a mother's day card and get this no design paper was used!  The stamp is from Northwoods, the center is homemade flower fluff, distress inks were used to color in the flowers.

Lady with a hat

Here is a sneak peek for those of you, who will be attending the next Make N Take Saturday, March 17th.  This is a center fold step card, done in light purple and accented with lace, ribbon, pearls, doilies, and a bit of cream and vintage photo coloring.

Well Traveled

I came across this embossing folder/stamp combo from Sizzix and thought it would be perfect for a Father's Day card.  To get more dimension, I stamped the image twice, cut the pieces out and did the shading on them, placed them back on the card with some foam tape behind them.I used vintage photo and tumbled glass distress inks for the shading.  The corners were originally bright colored but a bit of coloring with the versa mark pen and some copper embossing powder turned them into the perfect hardware, I did the same thing with the copper nameplate (originally just left over cardstock) and the brads (also bright colored).   Some glossy accents to go over the saying and a bit of twill tape frayed at the tips finish this off.

Baby to Bride Graphic 45!

You will find inspiration in the strangest places!  I was flipping through the channels when I came across one of those fashion shows that the designers have to do a "collection" and instantly thought of the 2 sheets of graphic 45 paper I had sitting on my craft table.  One was filled with tags and labels and the other one had beautiful squares.  I decided I would create a collection that fit the name of the paper.  Baby to Bride!!  So lets start the show!

I would like to call this "Sweet Baby" 

I am all about vintage so to put my spin on this all I had to do was distress the edges, add a bit of frayed burlap and tattered rose distress inks, in stitches embossing folder, some ribbon, a few pearls, prima rose and the paper and tags did the rest. 

Moving on....

The next one is "Building Blocks"

for this I embossed the front with the checkerboard embossing folder, used the tags, paper ribbon strip and three blocks from the paper, some frayed burlap ink and crinkled seam binding finish it.

As we move through the years lets take a look at...

The "Toddler Quilt"

all I used on this card was frayed burlap distress ink, swiss dots embossing folder and I let the beautiful square paper do the rest.  I love how this turned out.

Lets continue on our journey and see.....

"Special Moments",

Everyone can look back on their childhood and remember a moment or special memory.  I switched the colors to more of a "grown up" one, stamped some quotes onto the tags, threaded a bit of ribbon, and embossed the front using damask embossing folder.  The inks were weathered wood and frayed burlap, sayings stamped in walnut stain distress inks.

The baby has grown up!......

"The Bride"

Every bride needs a bit of blue, weathered wood distress ink and lacey circle spellbinders gave her just that.  The background is embossed with dvine swirls embossing folder, covered in frayed burlap and clear embossing powder to give the look of those old ceiling tiles.  (you have to feel the texture to truly appreciate it), a few pearls and tulle help the bride to shine and of course the beautiful cameo is a tag covered in glossy accents.  The other two tags were edged in frayed burlap and layered.

Lego Cake

Okay I know this is not a card, but as I had stated in a previous post, my son wanted a lego brick cake.  I thought I would show you what it turned out like.  Please remember, I've never taken a cake decorating class so I'm self taught.  This is what I came up with for him.  The cakes are devils food cake with a fluffy chocolate pudding filling and homemade buttercream frosting.  He was pretty excited about it.  Can't wait until we can cut into it!

Color Wash

Wow this week has been one hectic, emotional ride.  News of my grandfather going downhill, beginning school and so much more.  I wish I could say that I will be spending my weekend crafting all my blues away but instead I will be celebrating my sons birthday so I will have a house full of kids.  I can't complain though, I know I'm creating memories that will last a lifetime.  So onto the card.  I thought I needed a bit of calmness and colorful bursts around me.

I used broken china, peeled paint, mustard seed distress inks to color the background.  I layered a printed clear sheet over the top and attached dew drops in the corners, a bit of dyed seam binding, twine and a tag complete this simple, colorful calming card.  It is on display at scrapbook101!
